Definition
Feedback tagging means labeling each piece of feedback with a topic, like bug or price, so you can count themes.
Untagged feedback is a long pile of text. Tagged feedback is data. Once each note has tags, you can see which themes are growing, which ones hurt paying users, and which ones are fading.
A simple setup uses three kinds of tags. A type (bug, request, praise, price or question). A theme (the part of the product it's about). And a mood (good, mixed or bad). Start with 8 to 12 themes, and write a one-line meaning for each.
By hand or with AI
You can tag by hand in a spreadsheet when you get only a few notes. With hundreds of notes a week, AI tagging saves a lot of time. Either way, check a sample now and then to keep the tags honest.
Example
Note: "The new update keeps logging me out, please fix!"
Tags: type is bug, theme is login, mood is bad.
